I like the aesthetic contortions you have to go through in order to avoid linear perspective in a background while still communicating depth.

(Slight) delay of game…

As you should be aware, I'm wrapping up grad school right now. Due to Punk's very expensive medical issues* and a last-minute change of graduation plans, wherein I have to complete my thesis next semester, rather than this semester.

To help offset those surprise expenses, I need to take on a large but well-paying freelance project that fell in my lap a week ago. It will wrap up around the 21st of January (or sooner). So I will get started on Multiplex: Book Three a few weeks later than expected, as a result. There was always a bit of a buffer built into the schedule, so I do not anticipate this affecting the publication date, just how soon you'll start seeing bonus comics posted here.

My thesis is basically finished, at this point; that change shouldn't impact the book at all, either. It's more a question of not being able to defend it this month before the holidays rolled around than needing to do any significant additional work on it.

* Punk is doing very well right now, for those of you who are curious! He has been slowly but steadily putting weight back on. He's a bit less active than before, because he apparently now has arthritis, too, but that's being managed well by some new medicine.

Now entering the quiet time…

If you didn't see, there was a Multiplex Movie Review for Michael Bay's The Island posted to the Deleted Scenes blog. (It didn't go up here since it was for the Patreon backers, really.)

There are 47 of you who, despite about four notification or reminder e-mails, have not answered your surveys sent via BackerKit, which is the website I'm using to help me keep track of all the rewards (and also help make the fulfillment much, much easier than Kickstarter's surveys can).

This is VERY important — I can't make some of the rewards unless you fill it out, and obviously I can't mail your books next year, either. :) Photos (for people with vector portraits), names of movies (for people with reviews) and even just your NAME for people on the acknowledgments page are all things I need in order to be able to produce the book.

If you haven't already filled it out, PLEASE answer your BackerKit surveys, if only so I don't have to keep bugging you about this!

Also, for a very small handful of you with movie review strips, I initially forgot to ask what movie you wanted reviewed, so (if you haven't already), I'm afraid I need to ask for you to revisit the survey and answer that new question (it'll be the last one) — same URL as above.

My final semester of grad school starts in two weeks, and I have to spend what time I can in the next week preparing for the class I'm teaching (and designing — it's more or less a new course) and working on my thesis project, so I won't be posting much of anything for the next three or four months — maybe a movie review strip or two when I can find time, but the regular strip updates and school fill up my time (and then some…).

Once that's over, I'll be updating like mad, I tell you! Like mad.

Funding received! Fill out your BackerKit surveys! Tell me what you look like!

Huzzah! Kickstarter has officially transferred the funds to me.

What this means right now is… well, not a whole lot. I've already started buying a few materials (testing out a slightly larger mailer than I've used in the past, picked up a few shipping supplies), but — as previously mentioned — between now and late December, any work on book-related things will be for rewards like the vector portraits/cameos and the last three Michael Bay movie review comics. Wait, did I say three? I might have added one Patreon patron's suggestion to this set.

BE SURE TO FILL OUT YOUR BACKERKIT SURVEYS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, especially if you have a cameo coming to you! Some backers will be popping up in the manager's meeting Kurt and Jason are at in Multiplex right now, but you can't appear until I know what you look like. :)

If you haven't already received a BackerKit invite/survey, check the spam folder for your Kickstarter e-mail address then let me know and I can re-invite you.

BackerKit invites/surveys sent! And one question for here…
